Jacob Zuma says they are ready to take over South Africa
Former President and uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) leader Jacob Zuma said they have made a resounding call to the people of South Africa to take back the country.
Zuma shared this information in a short address to the nation on 30 October 2026, ahead of next week’s Local Government Elections.
“The time has come for us, as the people of South Africa, to show that what we are doing for ourselves, so that our country becomes what we want it to be,” he said.
“Remember that for years and years, we were never given an opportunity to govern or be anything. We were simply cast aside.”
“As time went by, at the time of liberation, it reached the point where the people gained the right to govern the country, just as it was previously governed by the settlers.”
He said that the fight for power has been won, and that the conversation has now changed to how the country is governed.
“We are truly expected to govern the land of our ancestors, all of us together. No one living in this country should refrain from standing up and contributing,” he said.
“We do not want a situation where, despite our large population and resources, there are people who receive nothing. We want everyone to be satisfied.”
“Right now, we want every Black person to vote for a Black person, because we were found here in this land, the land of our forefathers.”
“It is vital that we reclaim this country and govern it with care, diligence, and commitment. That is a great and important responsibility.”
He said that as South Africans head to the polls, their message to every black person is that they are one. “We will take care of each other and help each other,” he said.
“Our government will govern properly, provide the people with what is due to them, and ensure that everyone exercises their right to vote.”
All power! All power!

As part of the short address, he thanked the people of South Africa for their support during his time in hospital.
“I must say to the people of South Africa, while I was away, many spoke out, expressing their wish that I return and be who I am today. I am deeply grateful,” he said.
He also urged people to vote for uMkhonto weSizwe Party and allow the party to govern South Africa.
“I hope that everyone will vote, and vote correctly. More than anything, vote for uMkhonto we Sizwe. I would be very pleased, and I am certain many will do so,” he said.
“For all those who stand with us and wish to build a great nation, we say this: South Africans have endured very difficult conditions for years.”
He added that this was the time to stand up, take over, and make South Africa a country of peace.
“On 4 November, we expect South Africans to turn out in large numbers. As MK, we must come out in force, vote correctly, win, and be ready to lead this country,” he said.
“We will empower the South African people to realise their full potential. There is no doubt about it, no matter what others may say or do.”
“We are ready to take over. We have made a resounding call to the people of South Africa to take back your country, and I am confident our people will do just that.”
