From zero to 1 million in six months

Newsday has grown rapidly since its launch six months ago, surpassing 1 million page views and building a strong community.

Newsday launched on 1 August 2025, offering South Africans a centrist news publication focusing on politics, municipal performance, and business news.

Apart from breaking news, Newsday carries reports about municipal infrastructure projects and the collapse of services due to mismanagement and corruption.

It has a small team of young journalists under the guidance of Seth Thorne, who is passionate about ethical and impactful storytelling.

Newsday focuses on objectivity and uses data where possible to ensure personal opinion does not influence its reporting.

The publication’s growth shows strong demand for this type of reporting, with exceptional growth since its launch.

In January 2026, Newsday attracted 417,000 readers and served 1.2 million pages to its visitors. Its community is also growing fast.

Newsday has 62,000 registered users, 50,000 newsletter subscribers, and over 5,000 Android and iOS app users.

This is only the start, and Newsday is investing heavily in its future growth. This includes expanding its editorial team and improving its multimedia capabilities.
