2026 South African Election Results Prediction: ANC leads, the DA a close second, MK Party third, and EFF fourth

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) projected that the African National Congress (ANC) has attracted the most support across South Africa.

It is closely followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA), with the MK Party third, the EFF fourth, and the ActionSA fifth.

It further predicted that Jacob Zuma’s MK Party would lead in KwaZulu-Natal and the DA would dominate in the Western Cape.

The ANC is set to collect the most votes in the North West, Eastern Cape, Free State, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.

It should be noted that these are only projected results, and that the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) will only release the official results in a few days.

South Africa’s local government elections took place between Monday, 2 November 2026, and Wednesday, 4 November 2026.

Voting closed at 21:00, after which the votes were counted at the station in the presence of political agents and observers.

Since then, the results have been coming in from across the country. However, the full results are still a long way off.

To predict the outcome before all results are released, the CSIR has developed a forecasting model that uses samples from the official early results.

This model is accurate. In the past, the CSIR’s early predictions were within 1 to 3 percentage points of the final national support levels for most leading parties.

The CSIR explained that it will continually update its predictions as more voting district results are released by the Electoral Commission of South Africa.

As the model has more data, its predictions will become more accurate as the IEC releases results from more voting districts.

According to the CSIR’s latest predictions, the ANC is at 31.7%, the DA at 25.8%, MK at 9%, EFF at 6%, and ActionSA at 5%.
