Criminal cases opened against municipal manager

The Democratic Alliance in Ditsobotla has opened criminal cases against the Ditsobotla Municipal Manager, Olaotse Bojosinyane.

CJ Steyl, a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature and the DA Constituency Head in the Ditsobotla Local Municipality, provided more details.

The first case was opened under the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act, Act 12 of 2004, for fraud, intimidation, coercion and extortion.

The second case against Bojosinyane was under Section 173(1) of the Municipal Financial Management Act.

Bojosinyane responded, saying that the insinuation that he was behind a decline in service delivery in the municipality is unfounded.

“I categorically reject any suggestion that I have stolen municipal services, acted unlawfully, or caused financial losses to Ditsobotla Local Municipality,” he said.

“These are serious allegations which should not be presented to the public as established facts without credible evidence or proper context.”

Steyl responded, saying they opened the criminal cases for further investigation by the law enforcement agencies.

“The evidence Bojosinyane seeks will be a matter for the investigation,” he said in a press statement.

Steyl added that Bojosinyane’s appointment on 5 March 2025 was unlawful, having been made by an illegally constituted Council meeting in Mahikeng.

“The appointment also failed to carry the concurrence of COGTA MEC Oageng Molapisi,” he said.

“Bojosinyane is further reminded that while Ditsobotla remains under Section 139(7) administration, he has no executive authority.”

“His continued presence in Ditsobotla remains an unnecessary nuisance and a financial drain on the municipality’s limited resources.”

Steyl argued that Bojosinyane’s unlawful appointment in Ditsobotla has negatively impacted service delivery.

“There is nothing one would find that could redeem him through an improvement in basic service delivery,” he said.
