Justice minister rejects blame for Witness D’s murder, and ANC to investigate allegations of vote buying

Today, 10 December 2025, interviews will be held in Pretoria to select the next National Director of Public Prosecutions.

The selection panel has shortlisted six candidates for the job, one of whom will be chosen to replace Shamila Batohi as head of the National Prosecuting Authority. 

Three candidates will be interviewed today, and another three will be interviewed on Thursday. 

In Parliament, four new members of the uMkhonto weSizwe party will be sworn in today. The members are Bongani Mkongi, Pumlani Kubukeli, Makhosazana Radebe, as well as party leader and former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Brumelda Zuma. 

The African National Congress will continue with the National General Council today. The party has split itself into two commissions and will be discussing policies. 

In the East London Regional Court, closing arguments in the Enyobeni Inquest will be heard today. 

The inquest is seeking to establish whether anyone can be held accountable for the deaths of 21 young people at Enyobeni Tavern in 2022. 

The Rand is trading at R17.04 to the Dollar this morning, from R17.07 at the close of business on Tuesday.
