President Cyril Ramaphosa must condemn ‘Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer’
The United States Ambassador to South Africa, L. Brent Bozell III, said that President Cyril Ramaphosa should condemn the chant, ‘Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer’.
He shared this information during a discussion with SABC News regarding the United States’ new visa restriction policy.
Bozell explained that they put forward five asks to the South African government and discussed this directly with President Cyril Ramaphosa.
However, despite pleading with Ramaphosa to act on the United States’ demands, Ramaphosa did nothing.
This prompted United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio to announce the new visa restriction policy targeting South Africans engaging in racial discrimination.
The new policy is also targeting those who incite violence or enable land confiscation without compensation in South Africa.
One of the points mentioned by Bozell was the controversial ‘Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer’ chant, which he said had no place in any country.
He said that he understood that the Constitutional Court had ruled that it does not constitute hate speech, but that the President can still condemn it.
“The ruling does not mean the president cannot take a stance. Even when courts in the United States make decisions, the president can still disagree,” he said.
“The fundamental issue here is the incitement of violence. The entire world views that phrase as an incitement to violence.”
He asked what message it sends to the global community when the President of South Africa refuses to condemn it. “That is a major problem for the country,” he said.
“There is no law stopping the president from speaking out. Our position, which we expressed to the president, is that all incitements to violence must be denounced.”
“If necessary, find something said by the Boers and condemn that too, but apply the exact same standard to this song.”
He explained that the United States is concerned about the incitement to violence, which they expect South Africa to be concerned about as well.
“If you cannot acknowledge that ‘Kill the boer, kill the farmer’ constitutes an incitement to violence, then we have a fundamental problem,” he said.

This just proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the “constitutional court” is a farce and only works for one section of the population. The law as I understand it, is there to protect all honest, law-abiding citizens without fear or favour. In fact, for the constitution court to have made that ruling is criminal! How can they be trusted with anything after that ruling??
