The unique South African school with a village-style campus at the foot of the Phokeng mountains

Lebone II College of the Royal Bafokeng is a unique independent school that combines world-class facilities with Setswana culture and communal values.

The school was named after its founder, former Kgosi Mollwane Lebone Boikanyo Molotlegi, also known as Lebone II.

The school was established as the vision of Kgosi Lebone II and supported by his successor, Kgosi Leruo Tshekedi Molotlegi.

“My brother, Kgosi Lebone II, and I shared a passion for the idea of bringing world-class educational facilities to Phokeng,” said Molotlegi.

“We wanted to build a school that would offer the best academic opportunities in the midst of natural African splendour, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.”

Lebone II College of the Royal Bafokeng was established in 1997 and enrolled its very first cohort of students that same year.

Under Molotlegi, the school moved to its new campus in 2012, and he continues to support the school and the development of educational opportunities.

“Lebone II is an African school with a royal heritage, grounded in Setswana culture and shaped by a consciousness of our African context,” the school states.

“It is in this spirit that we celebrate difference and are proud of a student and staff body that is truly diverse.”

Lebone II College said it aims to provide inspiration, education, and opportunities that positively influence the Royal Bafokeng Nation.

“Our learning environment is dynamic, innovative and creative. We equip our students with the skills, tools, and mindfulness,” it says.

It is a research-driven school where high-quality learning programmes are developed in line with international best practices.
