Criminal charge against ANC officials reserving jobs for pals and cadres
The DA in Tshwane laid a criminal case against the ANC officials who are reserving jobs for pals and trading employment opportunities for votes.
Cilliers Brink, the DA’s mayoral candidate in Tshwane, explained that officials are rewarding those who campaign for the ANC during elections.
“Corruption is not a victimless crime. Nowhere is that clearer than when politicians interfere with access to jobs,” he said.
“Across Tshwane, too many residents have come to accept that getting work means knowing the ward councillor or being a member of the ANC.”
Brink said that reserving jobs for pals and cadres or trading jobs for votes is illegal and should be eradicated.
He added that residents from Pretoria West, Soshanguve, the Pretoria CBD, Mamelodi and Atteridgeville supported their action against the ANC officials.
“They came forward with allegations about how jobs and opportunities have been controlled in their communities,” he said.
In Ward 81 in the Pretoria CBD, residents marched to demand transparency and fair access to jobs on local development projects.
- In Ward 60, Pretoria West, an ANC councillor has been accused of excluding the community from local projects and placing his own people into opportunities.
- In Ward 27, Soshanguve, ANC councillor Bongani Masina was accused of extorting a local business for monthly payments linked to an EPWP subcontract.
- In Mamelodi, DA ward councillor candidate, MaTshwane, came forward with allegations that she was denied a job because she was not a card-carrying ANC member.
“The DA assisted these residents in putting their allegations on affidavit and submitting them to SAPS for investigation,” Brink said.
He said that jobs cannot become political currency in the hands of councillors, and that opening criminal cases is only part of the DA’s fight.
“We will establish a dedicated anti-corruption unit to investigate corruption involving politicians, officials, tenders and municipal job opportunities,” he said.
The unit will work with law enforcement agencies and conduct lawful undercover operations.
These operations will gather evidence against people who demand money, political support or favours in exchange for jobs.
“We want evidence gathered. We want cases opened. We want those responsible prosecuted,” Brink said.

The ANC owens the court. When Trump accused the ANC of genocide against white people the court threw it out. In a normal society, that would not have happened. But because it is the ANC that pays their salary, they sided with the ANC kill the boer, racist laws but yet the courts found no ground of this.
