The MK Party’s only plan is to keep Jacob Zuma out of prison – Geordin Hill-Lewis

DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis said the MK Party has no discernible policy platform, and that its only plan is to keep Jacob Zuma out of prison.

He shared this information during a question-and-answer session at the 2026 Biznews Conference at the Champagne Sports Resort in the Drakensberg.

He told delegates that he continues to support the concept of a doomsday coalition to describe a potential alliance between the ANC, EFF, and MK.

“The entire operation of the ANC is based on a business model of looting, with tentacles in every aspect of the state,” he said.

“If you look at the MK Party, there is absolutely no discernible policy platform at all. It is nearly impossible to say what they stand for.”

“I would offer a bottle of wine to anyone who can identify their platform other than keeping the former president out of prison.”

He said that the MK Party has no clear policy, a leadership facing very serious criminal charges, and they are in a state of complete internal chaos.

“I do not believe it would ever be responsible to enter government with a party that is almost certain to cause complete coalition chaos,” he said.

“It would be better to remain in opposition, pointing out where looting is occurring and how the industrial-scale state capture project is trying to get back on its feet.”

He explained that, for the foreseeable future, it would be very tough to see the MK Party as a partner.

Things will only change once they have a leadership not facing criminal charges and a policy platform committed to the Constitution.

He said that after the 2026 Local Government Elections, they will have to look at coalitions if they do not win an outright majority in those municipalities.

Parties such as ActionSA or the PA may refuse to join a DA-led coalition because they dislike specific leaders, like Helen Zille.

“Voters should hold them accountable for preventing the turnaround of cities like Johannesburg,” Hill-Lewis said.

Hill-Lewis is quite right. Parties like the PA and Action SA should first canvas their voters to see if they want to partner with the DA. Personally I think that those living in joburg would be crazy not to.
