Jacob Zuma has stopped a revolt in South Africa – Duduzane Zuma

MK Party Deputy President Duduzane Zuma said that South Africa should thank its lucky stars for his father, Jacob Zuma, as he prevented a revolt in the country.

Duduzane Zuma shared this information during a discussion at the 2026 Biznews Conference at the Champagne Sports Resort in the Drakensberg.

Zuma was recently named Deputy President of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party), where the President is his father.

“Jacob Zuma is always an interesting character. He is all right. He has been around for a very long time, whether rightfully or wrongfully,” he said.

“One thing I will say is that we should thank our lucky stars for him, for one reason and one reason only.”

“He has held back a great deal of revolt in this country, both before and after 1994, but especially in the situation we find ourselves in today.”

He explained that this is because many people look to Jacob Zuma for leadership and guidance as an elder in the community.

“Many of us may dismiss it as simply creating opportunities for the black majority. However, he has held people back and told them, ‘You will get through this’,” he said.

“He has spoken to them and guided them through it, and he is here to do so once again. We should hope he will be here for a much longer time.”

Turning his attention to the MK Party, he said it was a significant political force that cannot be ignored, regardless of being a new party.

He added that there was a disconnect between the elite and the struggling masses, calling for an economic approach that unifies the public, private, and informal sectors.

“We cannot have a situation where we’re only dealing with a certain section of our population and ignoring the masses,” he said.

He also advocated for a future built on meritocracy and industrial growth rather than short-term election cycles.

“We do have the same understanding when you speak about meritocracy, when you speak about free markets, and when you speak about opportunity,” he said.
