Plan to replace 30,000 government workers, and SA Tourism still paying Tottenham dealmakers

Today, 27 November, in the Pretoria High Court, the Umkhonto weSizwe Party and former President Jacob Zuma will be challenging President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to place Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on suspension.

The party argues Mchunu should have been immediately dismissed. They will further challenge Ramaphosa’s decision to replace Mchunu with acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia, rather than appointing someone from cabinet.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) will be at the Cape Town Central Police Station today to lay criminal charges against former President Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla.

This is related to Zuma-Sambudla’s alleged involvement in recruiting South Africans to fight in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The Madlanga Commission investigating police corruption has been adjourned today and will resume on Friday. This is after KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Lesetja Senona refused to take the stand.

Senona’s lawyers objected to the documents provided by the commission. His testimony is now scheduled for January.

The Rand is trading at R17.11 to the Dollar, from R17.14 at the close of business on Wednesday.
