New DStv packages starting at R99 per month
MultiChoice is set to announce changes to its DStv offering, with its entry-level package starting at R99 per month and a new sports package at R399 per month.
MyBroadband reported that MultiChoice will unveil a streamlined DStv package offering, which will be available to clients from 17 September 2026.
For the first time, MultiChoice will give South Africans the option to buy sports as a separate DStv package.
It will introduce new DStv packages called Starter, Select, Sports, Movies & Series, and Premium.
- Starter, at R99 per month, will include 85 TV channels, including sports like Premier League matches of the week on the SuperSport Kickoff channel.
- Select, at R299 per month, will offer 100 TV channels, carry SuperSport’s PSL soccer content, and include M-Net’s Mzansi Magic and Nickelodeon’s kids channel.
- Sports, at R399 per month, will offer 115 TV channels, including SuperSport’s Premier League and UEFA content, as well as T20 cricket.
- Movies & Series, at R500 per month, will offer 115 TV channels, including M-Net, which has only been available on DStv Premium.
- Premium, at R799 per month, will offer 130 TV channels and include Formula 1, MotoGP, premium rugby, such as Springbok matches, golf, and ATP tennis.
MultiChoice said the new entry-level package offers a taste of the best DStv has to offer, with great entertainment and live sport at an affordable price.
The most striking feature is that DStv subscribers will have a choice between a sports-focused service and an entertainment-focused package.
MultiChoice said the Sports offering will have “the world’s best football, cricket, local rugby, UFC, and WWE action, all in one affordable sports package”.
The Sports package will offer the Currie Cup, SA20 cricket, IPL, ICC cricket, Champions League and Premier League football.
It will also offer subscribers UFC and at least one United Rugby Championship (URC) game per week.
However, for the full SuperSport offering with all rugby matches, people will stall have to subscribe to DStv Premium.
Movies & Series, in comparison, will have channels like BBC Earth, Studio Universal, Discovery Channel, kykNET, and M Stars.
It will also include M-Net, which will make programmes like Carte Blanche more widely accessible and cheaper to watch.
