South Africa must bring back the death penalty and hang murderers
Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader and Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, said that South Africa should suspend the constitution to fix our problems.
One of the solutions to South Africa’s crime problem, he said, is bringing back the death penalty, by hanging, for murderers.
McKenzie shared his views on South Africa’s political landscape and how to improve the country in an interview with Biznews.
“I don’t believe in the Constitution. I believe that for the problems we are having as a country, the Constitution is an impediment,” he said.
“Criminals have found loopholes in the Constitution. We should suspend the Constitution to fix our problems.”
McKenzie said that criminals kill people in South Africa without giving it another thought. “Thirty-seven people die in one day,” he said.
“Those killers should be hanged. Under my government, they will be hanged. I am far right in this regard.”
He said that his offering to South Africans includes bringing back the death penalty in South Africa.
“If you don’t want the death penalty in 2029, you should never vote for me, because I’m bringing the death penalty back on day one,” he said.
“On my way to the office, I’ll already be calling them: ‘Come put the paperwork together for that.'”
He also pointed to criminals hijacking buildings in Johannesburg. “They’ve taken people’s buildings. It’s been six years, and people are still in court,” he said.
“Under my government, if they take that building at three o’clock, they will be either outdoors or in a mortuary half an hour later.”
“I am being unapologetic because I come from the world of crime. I know how ruthless that world is.”
