Controversial ANC politician owns 18 houses, 4 vacant properties, a business stand, and a tourism lodge
ANC stalwart Supra Mahumapelo owns 24 properties across South Africa, including many houses, a farm, and a tourism lodge.
This was revealed in Parliament’s Register of Members’ Interests for 30 June 2026, which was recently published.
Mahumapelo is an ANC politician who was Premier of North West from May 2014 to May 2018 during the fifth North West Provincial Legislature.
He formerly served as Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature from April 2012 to May 2014.
Mahumapelo was the Provincial Secretary of the African National Congress in the North West from 2005 to 2009 and its Provincial Chairperson from 2011 to 2018.
By early 2018, the North West province was gripped by widespread public protests and labour strikes, particularly in Mahikeng.
Protesters and opposition parties called for Makhumapelo’s removal over service delivery failures, alleged financial mismanagement, and corruption.
Mahumapelo announced his early retirement and resignation as North West Premier on 23 May 2018, during a media briefing alongside ANC leadership.
Following the May 2019 general elections, Mahumapelo was elected to the National Assembly as an ANC Member of Parliament.
He served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Tourism from July 2019 to August 2021.
In August 2021, he was appointed Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation.
He retained this leadership role into the seventh Parliament following the 2024 general elections in South Africa.
Outside of his political career, Mahumapelo is a gospel and cultural music performer and songwriter.

Parliament’s Register of Members’ Interests report for June 2026 revealed that Mahumapelo owns 24 properties.
The Register of Members’ Interests is an annual disclosure mechanism that promotes transparency, mitigates conflicts of interest, and reinforces public trust.
It requires members of both the National Assembly (NA) and the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) to declare their financial interests and material assets.
The register is administered by the Office of the Registrar of Members’ Interests and overseen by the parliamentary Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests.
The latest report revealed that Mahumapelo’s property portfolio includes residential and business assets located primarily in the North West province, with additional holdings in Gauteng.
He has 12 properties in the Mahikeng area, a business stand on Vryburg Road (3,000 square metres, and a business tourism lodge in Tontonyane Village.
He also has two properties in Potchefstroom, the same number in Rustenburg, and also two in the Atamelang Township.
Mahumapelo also owns a vacant land parcel and a residential property in Hartebeestpoortdam and the same in Moruleng.
He has a residential property measuring 89 hectares in Delareyville and a vacant plot on Botswana Road, also 89 hectares, in Ramatlabama.
Mahumapelo disclosed that he receives rental income from several of these residential properties.
