Inside the ANC event where it cost R500,000 to get access to ministers, the mayor, or MECs
The ANC Johannesburg Fundraising Gala Dinner took place on 30 July 2026, where delegates paid up to R500,000 per table to join high-ranking officials.
The R500,000 price tag applied to the City of Johannesburg’s executive mayor, Dada Morero and the executive deputy mayor, Loyiso Masuku.
For the same price, delegates could sit with Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Mmamoloko Kubayi.
Another official which demanded this price tag was the Regional General Secretary of Johannesburg, Sasabona Manganye.
The Regional Treasurer of the ANC Greater Johannesburg, Maxwell Nedzamba, also asked R500,000 per table.
For slightly less, delegates could sit with Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Bernise Swarts.
The Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Sihle Zikalala, and Chief Whip of the Johannesburg Council, Khazamula Love Chauke, also had tables.
Many Members of the Mayoral Committee and other top ANC and Johannesburg officials sold access to their tables at the event.
Individual seats at the ANC Johannesburg Fundraising Gala Dinner were sold for between R5,000 and R10,000 each.
The Gala Dinner took place on 30 July 2026 at The Venue in Melrose Arch, and the ANC Greater Johannesburg Region said it was a great success.
Johannesburg’s deputy mayor, Loyiso Masuku, said the event brought together leaders from government, business, civil society and other key stakeholders.
“Thank you so much to all the business people who came out to support the ANC,” Masuku said in a statement.
She extended special appreciation to NEC deployee Cde Sihle Zikalala and the NWC member and daughter of Johannesburg Cde Mamoloko Nkhensani Kubayi.
She also gave special thanks to Buti Manamela, their NEC member, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Tasneem Motara-Nisendze.
“Thank you to everyone who showed up and contributed to building a better Joburg. Together we rise,” the ANC said.
