The new ultra-luxury hotel opening soon in South Africa

South African luxury hotel group, Mantis Collection, is planning to open its new, ultra-luxury resort in the Eastern Cape this year.

The Mantis Hiddn in Addo resort is a totally off-grid mountain lodge. It will open its doors to guests on March 1 2026.

“Mantis Hiddn in Addo represents a new chapter for eco-luxury tourism in South Africa,” said Craig Erasmus, CEO of Mantis Collection.

“It showcases what is possible when conservation, culture, and considered design merge in one of the country’s most remarkable natural landscapes.”

The property will feature 12 luxury suites and two villas, seemingly suspended between earth and sky, perched on a viewpoint overlooking an 800-hectare private reserve.

The resort has been described by Mantis as a “mountain sanctuary” that will redefine luxury. While the property includes curated wellness treatments and therapies for each guest’s specific needs, guests are encouraged to connect with nature.

This includes hikes, nature walks or gathering food from “nature’s table.” Each guest is assigned a dedicated and intuitive personal host to cater to their every need.

The lodge operates entirely off-grid through solar power, water harvesting and recycling systems.

The property will first open its “panoramic mountain suites” to guests, with two-bedroom, three-bedroom and four-bedroom villas opening to the public at a later date.

Each suite features a king-sized bed and an indoor fireplace. The rooms consist of a spacious lounge and bedroom that open onto a private timber deck with a wood-fired tub above the wilderness.

Each room is decorated in calming earth tones, with each hot tub made of handcrafted KolKol wood.

Hiddn features its own dining facilities, inspired by the surrounding wilderness, the season, and each guest’s personal preference.

Each meal is accompanied by a curated wine list celebrating the best of South African wines.

There is an on-site restaurant and al-fresco dining, but the lodge features multiple special experiences, such as boma nights, chefs’ tables, sensory picnic excursions, sundowners, pop-up bush dining and bush breakfasts.

The lodge is conveniently located near the Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa’s third-largest national park.

The Mantis Collection is a luxury hotel group that began in South Africa but has since expanded across Africa and the Middle East.

The company was founded in 2000 by Adrian Gardiner, growing from his vision to restore and rewild degraded farmland.

The company’s latest lodge is a return to its home roots, as Mantis’s first property opened in the Eastern Cape. It was the province’s first private game reserve.

Prices for a stay at the new Mantis Lodge, Hidden in Addo, start from R32,700 for one adult, for one night.
