Julius Malema attacks Helen Zille: She is a racist and hates the EFF because it is not controlled by white people

EFF leader Julius Malema has launched a scathing attack on Helen Zille, saying she has a history of racism and lied about fighting against apartheid.

He shared his views on Zille, the DA’s mayoral candidate in Johannesburg, during an interview with SABC News.

He focused on Zille’s claim that she fought against apartheid, which included working as a journalist for the Rand Daily Mail in 1977.

She investigated and helped expose that Black Consciousness leader Steve Biko died from police brutality rather than a hunger strike or natural causes.

During the 1980s, she also worked with the pro-democracy organisation Black Sash and concealed ANC activists in her home during the 1986 state of emergency.

She has regularly referenced her past struggle credentials, saying that she fought apartheid harder than many other people.

However, Malema dismissed these claims, arguing that Zille was not a true activist who fought against the former government.

“Helen Zille has a history of racism. She’s not a revolutionary. She likes saying she fought in the struggle. She didn’t fight,” he said.

“She covered a story. She was a journalist. She happened to cover and break the story of Steve Biko’s death. It doesn’t make her revolutionary,” he said.

“She was doing her work as a journalist, and she was getting paid for doing that. She is a racist of note.”

He also accused Zille of hating the EFF because it is the only party which cannot be controlled by white people.

“Helen knows that if we go into a coalition with DA, we are going to talk from the level of equals. There is no white supremacy and inferiority from black people,” he said.

Julius Malema dismisses Helen Zille’s promotional stunts

Malema also dismissed Zille’s media stunt of arriving at the DA’s rally at Nasrec Expo Centre in an open-top BMW.

She also released a campaign video in which she spins a BMW 325i. “I spun over the weekend. On 4 November, I’m spinning Joburg in a new direction,” she said.

Malema said that the EFF’s mayoral candidate in Johannesburg, Tlaleng Mofokeng, is more qualified than Zille for the position.

“Mofokeng is a people’s mayor and a person who has worked with people,” Malema said during the interview.

He said that, prior to Zille’s BMW stunt, Mofokeng was planting vegetables for the poor and teaching them how to use the land.

“The media is celebrating a person who spins BMWs, and then you think that thing has got anything to do with improving the lives of our people?” he asked.

“That’s how much the media loves white people. Even when they do stupid things, they get coverage because they are white.”

He added that Helen Zille has been butchering Brenda Fassie’s song and that she can’t sing it or know the words.

“It demonstrates that she isn’t intelligent. She has been singing that song for so long and still does not know the lyrics,” he said.

“She can’t even dance. Even if you were to deploy Somizi to teach her, she wouldn’t improve. She has no capacity.”

“However, every time Zille dances badly, you all celebrate because it’s Helen Zille and because she is white.”
