R289 million spent on a Healthcare Centre that is unfinished and abandoned
The Randfontein Community Healthcare Centre in Mohlakeng remains unfinished and abandoned, despite close to R289 million having been spent on the project.
This was one of the revelations after an oversight visit to the site by Jade Miller, a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
Despite repeated promises that it would soon open its doors, there were still no contractors on site and no construction activity.
“Security personnel have not been paid for several months, while subcontractors abandoned the project after also not being paid,” she said.
Miller said that this was concerning, as the Gauteng Department of Health previously advised that the facility would be completed and operational by 30 June 2025.
“More than a year later, the project remains at a standstill with no indication of when it will finally be completed,” she said.
To add to residents’ frustration, a further set of questions submitted to the newly appointed MEC for Health in May this year remains unanswered.
“Residents deserve transparency about what has gone wrong, how much more taxpayer money will be spent, and when this facility will finally serve the community,” she said.
“The people of Mohlakeng and surrounding communities have waited far too long for this healthcare facility.”
“Instead of receiving improved healthcare services, they continue to watch a modern clinic stand idle while existing facilities remain under immense pressure.”
Miller said that they will not allow this project to quietly disappear into another long list of abandoned government infrastructure failures.
“We will continue to pursue this matter through the Gauteng Provincial Legislature and conduct ongoing oversight,” she said.
“Those responsible must be held accountable, and the Randfontein Community Healthcare Centre must be opened to the people it was built to serve.”
“Residents of Randfontein deserve a government that puts their needs first, particularly when it comes to health.”

There are many examples all over the country where the wonderful black government has, to great fanfare, announced and begun multi-million and multi-billion rand “projects”.
They are never intended to be completed, they exist for the sole purpose of monetary extraction for those linked to the ANC Friends & Family Plan.
That remains their sole reason for existence.
What has the black government ever built, what have they ever done for the country? Nothing. It has always been, and always will be about what they can do for themselves while they “remain in ‘powa'”
Why have they spent 32 years seeking to rename everything they can get away with?
Simply because they have never built anything, never will, and are not interested in doing so, but decades from now the uninformed will look at all the cities, towns and infrastructure bearing “Black Names” and marvel at how much “the ANC built”.
Why do all the “big projects” get vandalized? Does this happen in “the global north”?
It tells us that we have a people problem – more specifically, far too many poor quality humans.
Forget all the woke, liberal excuses – we have too many poor quality people, with a total lack of ethics, who are under developed, under educated, and unable to apply critical thought and reason.
That is how these sub-standard “political leaders” manage to enrich themselves and remain in power with their 400+ “Political Parties” and “Proportional Representation” excuse for a democracy.
The problem is not, and never has been, any of the excuses they make now (and will continue making for the next thousand years) – it is a lack of development.
Across the Global North (read the thousands of years of history) there was slow development over thousands of years; through many Empires of “colonialization”; through thousands of years of “inequality” and subjugation; thousands of years of slow development, sharing of idea, knowledge, trade and infrastructural developments.
How do these fools think the Global North became more developed, more wealthy,more knowledgeable, more advanced?
It developed, over a very long time, better quality and more advanced people.
End of story – history has spoken.
Thousands of years of missed development (blame the Sahara Desert for that) do not get undone or absorbed in decades …. think long term. The journey is long, but begins with a single step.
