South Africa does not expect any further Trump tariffs, and suspended IDT CEO resigns

Today, 15 January, the Rand is trading at R16.41 to the Dollar, from R16.39 at the close of business on Wednesday. 

Extreme weather and flooding in Limpopo and Mpumalanga have resulted in the closure of some schools until next Monday. Extreme weather conditions are expected to continue throughout the coming weekend. 

In Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee investigating corruption in the police and criminal justice system, the committee is expected to hear the testimony of Crime Intelligence boss Dumisani Khumalo today.

After thousands of children were not placed in schools by the beginning of the school year yesterday, the Gauteng Department of Education has assured parents that their children will soon be placed. 

While some have been advised to give the Department 10 days to resolve the placements, others have been told to return to the district education offices on Friday.
