A loaf of bread for 99c from Pick n Pay and Boxer

FNB eBucks has partnered with Boxer Superstores to offer South Africans a loaf of bread at 99c, following a similar deal with Pick n Pay.

In 2024, FNB eBucks and Pick n Pay started to offer qualifying FNB customers a loaf of bread every week for 99c through a voucher initiative at all stores nationwide.

At the time, Pick n Pay CEO Sean Summers said they were delighted to be part of the 99c bread initiative to provide relief during difficult times.

Since launching the 99c bread benefit in September 2024 with Pick n Pay, FNB has seen a strong impact.

Over 6.3 million loaves issued and more than R9.6 million in direct savings delivered to customers across South Africa.

On Wednesday, 1 July 2026, FNB eBucks announced that it had extended this promotion to Boxer Superstores.

“From 1 July, FNB Easy, Aspire and Prime Life customers who shop at Boxer and swipe their cards in-store will qualify for the 99c bread benefit,” it said.

It added that, just like with the Pick n Pay deal, Boxer Superstore customers can buy up to four loaves of bread per month at 99c.

FNB CEO Lytania Johnson said that the expansion of this benefit is focused on helping customers reduce the cost of everyday living.

She said that adding Boxer to this partnership extends the 99c bread deal to rural and semi-rural communities.

Boxer CEO Marek Masojada said the strength of this initiative lies in its simplicity and relevance to South Africans.

“This partnership is about turning everyday shopping into a moment of real value, helping customers stretch their budgets,” he said.

eBucks CEO Pieter Woodhatch added that 99c bread benefit meets customers at the point of purchase, which makes benefiting from it easy.

I like these initiatives. Obviously, FNB and Pick n Pay win, but it costs people nothing, and they score as well. Good work.
