Rich versus poor is a lie. It is makers and takers.

David Friedberg, a South African-American entrepreneur and businessman, said it is a lie that the rich and the poor are two sides of society. Instead, it is makers and takers.

Friedberg shared his view during a discussion about Elon Musk becoming the world’s first trillionaire on the All-In Podcast.

He argued that Musk’s success should be celebrated and used to inspire the next generation to become entrepreneurs and create valuable goods and services.

Instead, many people, including politicians, vilify Musk as being evil for having amassed so much wealth through business endeavors.

“Young people around the world are led to believe that they are indentured to a government for a fixed income for the rest of their lives,” he said.

He said that the free market offered people the opportunity to create value through goods and services, and that it should be embraced.

Friedberg believes that one of the biggest problems is that politicians and others like to divide society into rich and poor.

“The great lie is that there are two sides to society, the rich and the poor. The great truth is that there are two sides: the makers and the takers,” he said.

“The lie is that the rich are unfairly rich and the poor are unfairly poor, and therefore, the poor must take from the rich. The truth is that it’s the takers who tell you that lie.”

He said that the real truth is that there are makers, like artists, plumbers, electricians, woodworkers, and computer scientists.

These makers, who come from all walks of life and all income levels, create things or offer services which other people find of value.

“Whether you make a piece of art, build a house, write a piece of software, or create a business, you are a maker,” he said.

“If you’re a maker and someone else values it, they become your customer or your partner in some way. You’ve done something valuable.”

The takers, in comparison, are what many refer to as the intelligentsia. They include the espousers, armchair mechanics, critics, commentators, and politicians.

“They are the people who watch the rest of society make stuff and build stuff that creates value for other people in society,” he said.

“The takers are the ones who tell the lie that it’s rich versus poor because what they want to do is rip apart the makers.”

He said the takers tell everyone you have to be on one side or the other, and they use that lie to get everyone to line up against each other.

“The purpose is to ultimately give themselves the control to form the great politburo, which is what they’re trying to create,” he said.

That is what’s underway right now, and that is the fundamental great truth and great lie that we’re fighting against at this moment.”

A fantastic analysis. When you start to understand the world in this way, it’s an eye opener.

It’s very difficult in this current world to figure out the right path to take. This concept simplifies the route you need to follow. I wish my parents had taught me this, it would have saved many hard lessons in my 20s.
