Ward councillors fearing for their lives in Johannesburg, and former SSA boss arrested
Today, 2 December, Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero is set to face a motion of no confidence.
The latest attempt to remove him is being tabled by the United Democratic Movement (UDM), African Independent Congress (AIC), and Al Jama-ah. The minority parties recently left the ANC-led coalition government.
They say the motion against him is due to poor service delivery and his failure to consult coalition partners when making key decisions.
In the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court, a member of the Hawks, Papie Tsie, and Tembisa hospital official, Zacharia Chisele, are expected to apply for bail today.
The two are facing corruption charges after they attempted to bribe another Hawks Officer who is part of the team investigating corruption allegations in the hospital.
In the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, Suspended Minister of Police Senzo Mchunu is set to make an appearance and face a tough cross-examination this afternoon.
The Commission will first conclude with the testimony of Ekurhuleni City Manager Dr Imongen Mashazi this morning.
The Rand is trading at R17.10 to the Dollar today, from R17.08 at the close of business on Monday.
